The UF year, month by month
A UF year goes fast and every month has its own task. Here is the whole year from September to June, with what should be done and links to the guides that help you get there.
September: register and decide on something
Register the company through your school according to the instructions from Ung Företagsamhet. Decide what you will sell, who does what and write a first business plan. Start with the first week checklist and then go through legal checklist.
October: get an address and make the plan honest
Get a domain and a real email address for the company, the guide domain and email shows how. Finish the budget, calculate break-even and order the material you need so that it arrives before Christmas.
November: build the store and sort out payment
Build a website or online store: install WordPress and WordPress and WooCommerce. Connect payment using the guide payment gateways and the payment gateway checklist. Test everything yourselves before customers get to try it.
December: Christmas markets and the highest revenue
Now you sell. Book marketplaces in time, bring Swish and a card reader, and photograph everything. Do your bookkeeping as you go, not afterward, so January does not become a nightmare. The guide bookkeeping keeps track of receipts and payments.
January: reconcile and think competition
Collect all receipts, reconcile the cash register against the bookkeeping and see where you stand against the budget. Sign up for the region's competitions if you want, the jury asks about exactly the things that are in the business plan.
February to March: the final push
Sell on, preferably with the lessons from Christmas: what sold out, what should have been priced differently? The regional finals are decided in the spring, and by then the presentation needs to be solid.
April: close the sales
Stop taking new orders in good time. Finish ongoing jobs, send the last invoices and do a final reconciliation of the finances against the budget.
May: prepare the June closing
Read the guide June wrap-up and go through the June closing checklist. Clean out customer lists and accounts that are no longer needed, see the page about GDPR for what should be deleted.
June: wrap up, file your tax return and say thank you
Follow the June closing step by step: the accounts should be closed, accounts settled or deleted and the tax return filed according to the instructions from your region. Send a final thank you to the customers and celebrate that you actually ran a company for a full school year.
